ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS MANAGER (NYC)

Logicworks, an established (13+ years) NYC-based, privately held, financially stable managed services provider in growth mode is seeking a smart, enthusiastic, personable and technically literate candidate to be an Enterprise Solutions Manager (ESM) and help grow our Sales Department. Technical background and sales experience are essential. MUST be willing and able to develop/research new leads, and conduct a consultative sales process. Must also be able to provide project management support to both new and existing clients.

Responsibilities
  • Develop client base. Work alongside company's Marketing Team to expand the scope of contacts.
  • Manage accounts and nurture relationships to build upon existing business.
  • Master and understand Company’s services so they can be presented in a clear, concise fashion to existing and new clients in person, over the phone and on paper. Strong Communication skills are essential!

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (NYC)

The Database Administrator is responsible for supporting and coordinating all database activities at Logicworks. He or She will establish and utilize effective policies and procedures for the definition, management, protection, and efficient utilization of systems, data and databases. This includes running scripts, installation, migration, monitoring, backup and recovery, tuning, resolving complex client related problems, and resolving all database related work orders in a timely manner. The DBA function is an integral position within the hosting industry. In our dynamic, fast-paced environment, the DBA is responsible for multiple client database installations.

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform day to day MySQL, Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server and Linux and/or Windows database administration in large, complex environment
  • Responsible for the overall performance, tuning, and backup/recovery of databases and optimization of underlying operating systems and hardware architectures for managed database service clients.
  • Maintain database in high availability (HA) solutions to meet reliability and high client service level standards.
  • Support mission critical systems in a 24X7 environment.
  • Plan and implement database upgrades as needed.
  • Install, configure and upgrade SQL server software and related products.
  • Work with client and Logicworks sales team to design and implement scalable architectures.
  • Perform database backups and restores, and recover from any database system failures.
  • Deploy highly available architecture using MySQL native cluster, MySQL mirroring, Veritas Storage Foundation Suite etc.
  • Develop and maintain best practice services in support of databases
  • Write custom scripts to automate various daily DBA operations
  • Document and improve existing processes
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited four year college or university in computer science, IT, engineering or equivalent experience
  • Three or more years of experience as both a database administrator AND either a Linux administrator OR a Windows 2003 server administrator.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP), applications and systems.
  • Requires a high degree of self-management in area of tracking, documentation and vendor / service management.
  • Experience working with fast paced environment and engineer teams
  • Motivated self-starter personality; must be able to work independently of supervision but be a willing and contributing participant on cross-functional team
  • Three or more years of experience in data architecture, requirements analysis, and data modeling
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills communication skills, and strong problem solving abilities
  • Must be able to perform effectively in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment while maintaining a high level of service
  • Experience in designing, implementing, testing and maintaining data replication services, as well as database backup, security and recovery strategies
  • Strong familiarity with database clustering & log shipping
  • Experience in installing and administering database instances in design, development, test and production environments.
  • Experience with Shell scripting
  • Experience with external storage arrays, fiber channel switches and HBAs and SCSI raid storage devices.
  • Should have information security experience and strong understanding of security patches.
  • Experience in SQL software and client / server configuration in a Windows and/or Linux environment; in at least two of Oracle 10g, MySQL, MSSQL with additional requirements as below for each.
  • a) Oracle Requirements
    • Experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
    • Experience supporting Oracle 10g Production Databases.
    • Widespread knowledge of database backup recovery options including RMAN
    • High level of proficiency with SQL and Database Performance Tuning techniques
    • Competency with cost based optimization techniques
    • Excellent understanding of Oracle RAC, Dataguard and advanced replication
    • Familiarity with Oracle Advanced Security Options, Virtual Private Database, and Streams is a plus.
  • b) MySQL Requirements
    • Hand on experience with day to day MySQL administration in a production Linux environment
    • 1+ years experience with MySQL 5.0.
    • Experience with backup and recovery tools
    • Experience with MySQL bi-directional replication
    • Should have prior experience with Master/Slave, transaction log replication, and other disaster recovery strategies
    • Must be an expert in performance tuning
    • Should have understanding of HA architecture like MySQL native cluster
    • Needs to be proficient with Red Hat ES3 and ES4
    • Must know how to support mission critical systems in a 24X7 environment
  • c) Microsoft SQL Server Requirements
    • 3-5 years DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server in a 24x7 environment
    • Experience with MS SQL Server 2005 / 2000
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Microsoft IIS, SQL Server, Microsoft Enterprise Windows Clustering, Veritas Storage Foundation and Windows Security practices and Server hardening.
    • Experience writing T-SQL stored procedures
    • Experience with Microsoft IIS, ASP, ASP.Net, ODBC
    • Experience supporting 100+ GB databases at 10,000 * 50,000 SQL transactions/sec
    • Experience with DBCC trace flags to trouble-shoot performance and resolve deadlock issues
    • Experience with Profiler, Performance Counters, PerfMon, Microsoft Operations Manager and other performance and index fragmentation analysis tools
    • Proficient in SQL Server Replication technologies with experience in DTS, log shipping, database mirroring, and other high level data management techniques in a 24x7 production environment.

LOGISTICS ENGINEER (NYC, Secaucus, NJ)

The role of Logistics Engineer is an entry-level position in the hosting industry working for a growing complex hosting provider.

The Logistics Engineer is a member of the Logistics team and is responsible for hardware provisioning, replacement of failed hardware, and hands-on response to hardware emergencies. He/She is also responsible for the preparation of rack and data center space for addition of clients and any other hands-on work required at the data center. Logistics Team Engineers are directly accountable to the Logistics Manager.

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Install, configure and maintain server-class hardware
  • Install, configure and maintain network infrastructure hardware (switches, routers)
  • Assemble and test components and imaging drives to put live spares on the network
  • Perform hardware upgrades and planned replacements of failed components
  • Coordinate with our Network Operations Center engineers to provide the best service for our clients
  • Communicate with management and other engineering groups knowledge of hardware compatibility/installation/performance issues
  • Revise logistical policies/procedures to streamline the team's workflow, and maintain documentation of the types of hardware used by Logicworks as well as known issues with various hardware types.
  • Maintain some responsibility for inventory including receiving ordered components, processing RMA’s and alerting Logistics Director when components need to be ordered to maintain spare hardware on the network
  • Initial entry of data into LogicOps for new hardware and reflect any changes to hardware or network information made by Logistics team into LogicOps
  • Provide hand-on response to emergencies as directed by other members of the NOC
  • Continue learning about new and evolving hardware technologies, network/system administration technologies and techniques, and anything else that may relate to expertise in the field of IT
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years experience with desktop and server hardware troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Experience coordinating RMA/Warranty returns
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Ability to maintain detailed record keeping of system/network configuration for inventory management
  • Familiarity with configuring Cisco switches (IOS and CatOS)
  • Experience with Windows Server 2000/2003 in Standard/Enterprise flavors
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Linux EW/WS2 and higher

NETWORK RESPONSE TEAM ENGINEER (NYC)

Logicworks, an established (13+ years) NYC-based, privately held, financially stable managed services provider in growth mode is seeking a Network Response Team Engineer.

Founded in 1993, Logicworks provides enterprise-level complex managed hosting solutions to Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs). Logicworks matches the best products and services with the needs of the client, and has a high level of expertise in mission-critical hosting solutions for ASPs and SaaS.

Logicworks Managed Hosting includes fault-tolerant network and server architectures, 24/7 service and technical support, managed security, and full-scale backup-and-recovery services.

Network Response Team Engineers (NRT) are responsible for fielding client calls, e-mail requests, and requests placed through the ticketing system at all hours of the day. They work three 12-hour shifts per week with an additional 4 hours to be arranged individually.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring servers for connectivity and running services;
  • Monitoring dedicated access lines for connectivity;
  • Handling calls in the Network Operations Center queue -- providing general support, troubleshooting issues, and opening service request tickets. Engineers are expected to solve issues to the best of their abilities and to escalate issues when warranted;
  • Supporting network related services (DNS, shared e-mail, shared Microsoft Exchange) and value-added services for servers (firewall configuration, load balancer configuration, anti-virus services, etc.);
  • Imaging and initial configuration of Windows or Linux servers; adding servers into monitoring and administrative systems to prepare servers for turnover to client;
  • Configuration of services on clients' dedicated servers (Apache or IIS configuration, Sendmail and other mail related configuration, installation of perl modules, etc.);
  • General troubleshooting of issues with T1 lines, opening tickets for problem circuits with vendor;
  • Assembling and testing server components; hands-on work at any of the data centers as necessary. Though not primarily responsible for work which needs to be done in the datacenter, all engineers may be called upon to do emergency work in the datacenter if Logistics Team members are unavailable;
  • Other tasks and extended projects as assigned. All engineers are involved in one or more projects to build, maintain, upgrade, or extend services we are offering. NRT engineers are more likely to have a secondary role supporting senior engineers, and engineers who are in during the day will have a lead role in projects.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related technical support experience;
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required - Must be a flexible person;
  • Requires knowledge and experience in a full range of technology platforms and data network systems
  • Excellent customer service and strong communication skills are a must.
